          Lucuma is a tropical fruit native from the cool highlands of South America.

It is hard to describe this exquisite flavour or aroma,but it is definitely one of the most favourite flavours in Latin America.The best time to taste the fresh fruits of Lucuma  is to visit Peru in the summer months,from January to April.

           The Lucumo tree ranges from 25 -50 feet (8 -15 metres ) in height.The sceintific name for Lucuma is POUTERIA OBOVATA which forms part of the SABPOTACEAE family,it grows mainly in the Andean valleys of Peru.

It has a unique and most delicate flavour,with an intensely yellow orange colour and a unique aroma.

       Lucuma is recognised as being the most nutritious fruit with a high content of fibre,carotene,niacin and iron.

        It has been considered to be a native Peruvian fruit since Incan times,we can even find it in the old Inca culture in pottery designs and textiles from remote times.
